PhotoShows

A life seen

We can create a photoshow for you, either provide the photos; in hard copy (which we can scan for you but we will need them at least 3 days before the funeral) or in digital format on a USB stick or by digital transfer.

If your providing images in digital format, make sure that each image is a decent file – at least 300kb. If you want the photos to appear in strict chronological order – please number them clearly; 01, 02, 03 etc

Allow yourself plenty of time to select the images and be mindful this can be a very emotional task.

You can also include brief video clips too.

Top Tip

If you’re using your phone to take photos of photos – save a lot of time by downloading an app which can size, crop and tidy up the images by removing glare.

When to show the photos? Three options.

  • You may decide to screen a photoshow as people gather, you can pretty much have an unlimited number of photos, BUT there is quite a lot of work involved in sourcing and scanning photos if they are not readily digitally available.
  • You may prefer to screen a photoshow at a particular point during the funeral service with a live or synced music track. We advise no more than 40 to 50 photos – which is about 5 minutes viewing time. If you are syncing music to it – find an appropriate track length.
  • You may prefer just to have the photoshow at the end of the service as people gather for the ‘cup of tea’ – again, you can have an unlimited number. You can also play the photoshow again on your TV screen at home if you have an ‘after match’ gathering

    Title slide

It’s good to have a title slide that can be paused during the service rather than staring at a blank screen. Consider using a photo (ideally in landscape format) other than the one on the service sheet.

    Creating your own photoshow

To create your own show you can use PowerPoint, Canva or the photo app on MAC. You can sync your music to it and save it as a MP4 video file directly onto your laptop then save to a USB stick (as a back-up).

    Test, test and test again.

Please email us the competed file the day before hand.

    Cautionary advice

Very, very occasionally, despite endless testing, there are unavoidable technical glitches at venues and photoshows are unable to be played.

If you want to go ‘old school’ and fail safe, pin boards are great, and we have a couple we can lend you – or stick to albums, these prompt more memories and invite more conversations to share stories over the cup of tea.

Remember you can email/share the photoshow with others after the service if it is saved to an MP4 format.
